Ornge, Ontario's air ambulance service, announced yesterday the permanent deployment of one of its new Pilatus PC-12 airplanes to Timmins, Ontario. Timmins is the third location for Ornge to base its PC-12s, which are used for advanced and critical care during transport. Deployment of the PC-12 fleet began in Thunder Bay this summer, followed by Sioux Lookout at the beginning of October.
Dr. Chris Mazza, Ornge president and CEO, called Timmins an extremely important base for transport medicine operations in the North. "We are committed to delivering a high-quality service to residents of Timmins and throughout Northern Ontario, and to providing them with the freedom to live and work where they choose without worrying about access to health care," Mazza said.
